Every Memtell Wedding Card links to a unique digital video message made by the couple. This is what makes Memtell cards so personal and special for guests. But, there is also a written message in the card, for people who might not be so tech-savvy. In the following article we’ll be focussing on how to use the Memtell app to create and link different video types to your wedding card.
The free Memtell app is your first port of call for the creation of your wedding video message. It allows you to upload or record your personal video, linking it to the QR code on the card. When the QR code is scanned by guests, they will be able to view the video in 3D using our advanced augmented reality viewing. The element of surprise really is heightened with our 3D video invitations, and the best part is, guests don’t even need to have the app!

Creating Your Wedding Video
1. Make a Slideshow
Create an emotional video out of a photo slideshow: You can create an emotional wedding invitation video or wedding thank you video by uploading some sentimental images. For example; photos of the time you first met, your engagement, the wedding location, or just special photos of memories you would like to share with your wedding guests on your wedding invitation card. For your wedding thank you card, you could choose your favourite photos from your wedding photographer and create a personal slideshow video to share as a very personal way to say thank you.
If you’re wanting to create a slideshow, you have the option to add up to 9 images which you can then edit, rearrange and delete. Once you’ve found the perfect order for your slideshow images, you then have the option to record your voiceover for each slide, capturing your personal memory of each photo. You can also create and add a personal video intro to play to your guests before the slideshow and music starts.
2. Record a Story
If you want to keep your invitation video simple you can just scan or upload one significant photo and add your personal story to it by recording your audio. For example, upload a photo of your engagement ring and then voice record the story of how your fiancé proposed to you. This will create a very short but personal video for your wedding invitation card.
3. Upload your wedding video to the app
You can record your wedding invitation video on your phone or with other apps and save it to your phone. Once you’ve created the perfect invitation video, you can upload it directly to the Memtell App and link it from there to all your wedding invitation or thank you cards.
4. Record your video with the Memtell App
As a last option, you can directly record your wedding invitation or thank you video within the Memtell App. You might find that the first few times you record end up just being practises, but this is a great way to get more comfortable in front of the camera. The Memtell App lets you record and delete as many videos as you want, meaning that eventually you can get the perfect result!
Adding the Video to the QR Code
So, once your video is complete, upload it to the Memtell app and you’re ready to link it to your physical wedding cards. Now comes the part that brings the magic to life. You'll need to select your video in the app and click the ‘Link your QR-code’ button, which will open your camera and allow you to scan the barcode on the inner left page of one of your wedding invitations. Once you’ve done this, you’re all set to go and all wedding cards will show your video! If you want to replace your video with a new one, you can do this easily by clicking the “edit” button on your old video which will allow you to create or upload a new video. It’s super easy, since the linked video on your card will be automatically updated with the new version.
How do Family and Friends Watch the Video Card Message?

The best part about your wedding video invitations is that it’s super easy for friends and family to watch the video. They don’t have to download the Memtell app, they can simply just scan the QR code through their camera. This is great for guests who aren’t confident with technology. As soon as your guests allow camera access and hold their phone over the picture on the left side of the card, the video pops up and starts playing. Friends and family will certainly be impressed with the 3D augmented reality feature, as it’s unlikely they will have ever seen a video in this format before. It’s a great way to add a twist to your wedding invitations whilst still keeping the traditional aspect of a physical card. Remember, you can always change your wedding video at any time, so you have complete flexibility and can practise until you get it perfect!

So, start creating your wedding video with your fiancé now. Write down some bullet points of what you want to include and what you want to say in the video message. Reading from a script isn’t a good idea but it’s important that you’re both on the same page with what to say. Lastly, it might take some time to build confidence, so don’t worry if you mess up the first few times. You never know, you might actually find it a really fun bonding experience for you and your partner, especially if you add a glass of bubbly to the mix! The best part is, if you’re a couple who isn’t confident in front of the camera, you still have the option to create a very personal video by uploading some photos that have special meaning to your wedding.
